This class functions like dedicated math office hours where students bring their current assignments, begin working independently, and receive personalized help whenever they get stuck or need a concept explained more clearly. A tutor is available to reteach difficult topics, answer questions, check understanding, and help students build confidence in their math skills.
Support may include topics such as solving equations, graphing, factoring, exponents, functions, word problems, and other common math concepts students encounter in their coursework.

Focus Zone: Supervised Study Hall
Focus Zone is a supervised study hall designed to provide students with a quiet, productive environment for academic work during open periods at CLA. This space is available for high students who are not enrolled in another class during that time and is intended to help students make wise and productive use of their school day.
Students using Study Hall are expected to remain actively engaged in schoolwork at all times. In order to maintain a focused learning environment, the room must remain quiet with no socializing or unnecessary conversation. Study Hall is not intended to be a hang-out space, but rather a place for students to complete assignments, study, read, participate in online coursework, or work independently in a calm setting.
Students participating in live online classes must use headphones or a headset so that the room remains quiet and respectful for others working nearby. Students may not remain in the Study Hall room between periods unless an adult supervisor is present.
Study Hall is considered a privilege at CLA and is designed to support student responsibility, time management, and academic success. By using this space appropriately, students can maximize their time on campus and develop strong independent study habits.

Each session will begin with warm-ups and dynamic stretching to prepare the body for movement. Before gameplay, we will focus on building foundational skills to ensure students feel confident and competent in their activities. Games will be selected based on age group, weather conditions, and will be designed to challenge students both physically and mentally. Each class will include 2–3 games, with regular breaks for hydration.
I place a strong emphasis on connecting the brain and body through engaging activities that stimulate both physical coordination and cognitive skills. At the end of each session, students will have the opportunity to choose a game that integrates the skills learned that day. This group-voted activity promotes personal investment, leadership, and collaborative decision-making. It also fosters relationship building and encourages students to practice self-regulation and teamwork.
Each class will end with time set aside for students to clean up equipment and gather personal belongings, reinforcing respect for shared spaces and personal responsibility.

Using the scientific method, students will make predictions, conduct experiments, collect and analyze data, and improve their creations based on evidence. More than just a fun science class, this experience builds critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving, collaboration, and confidence. Students will strengthen their observation and communication skills while learning the science behind the foods and beverages they enjoy every day.
By the end of the course, students will have created a variety of simple, easy-to-follow recipes and science projects, gained confidence using the scientific method, and developed a deeper appreciation for the science found in food and cooking.
