Fees and Payment

Why Families Choose CLA

At Community Learning Alliance, we believe investing in your child’s education is one of the most valuable decisions you can make for your student(s). Our program offers a rare combination of high-quality academic support, meaningful community, and convenient drop-off flexibility — all designed to help homeschool students thrive both academically and socially.

For the cost of just one or two traditional classes per week, your family receives:

  • Expert instruction from experienced, passionate tutors

  • Engaging, hands-on classes in core subjects

  • A supportive community where your child can build lasting friendships

  • A well-equipped campus with consistent weekly structure and accountability

  • The freedom to customize your student’s schedule to perfectly complement your homeschooling plan

Our transparent two-part pricing structure (Membership Fee + Class Fees) ensures we can maintain an excellent learning environment while allowing tutors to focus fully on teaching. Many families find that the academic growth, confidence, and joy their children experience at CLA far outweigh the investment.

Below is a clear breakdown of the costs for the 2026/2027 school year...

Cost of CLA Membership

At Community Learning Alliance, there are two separate costs to participate in our program:

1. Community Membership Fee

This annual fee helps cover facility rental, insurance, utilities, and operational expenses so we can maintain a high-quality campus environment.

Membership Fees:

  • K–8th Grade

    • 1 Student: $1,000 per year

    • Family (2 or more students): $1,500 per year ($0 for high school students enrolling with other family members)

  • High School

    • Each High School Student: $100 per year

Payment Options for Membership:

  • Pay in full at the beginning of the school year and receive a 10% discount, or

  • Split into two equal payments (one at the start of each semester)

2. Class Fees – Paid Directly to Tutors

Important: All class fees are paid directly to the individual tutors, who are independent contractors. CLA does not collect class tuition. You may pay using charter school vouchers (if approved) or private payment.

Class Fees per Semester:

  • K–8 Classes: $400 - $500 per class, per semester

  • High School Classes: $500 per class, per semester

  • High School Science (1 day/week): $250 + $100 lab fee

How Payments Work

  1. Membership Fee → Paid to Community Learning Alliance (covers campus access)

  2. Class Fees → Paid directly to each tutor (charter voucher or private pay)

This structure allows our tutors to operate independently while ensuring the program has stable funding for facility and operations through the membership fee.

**All payments (both membership and class fees) are final and non-refundable.

Volunteer Requirements

Families at CLA are required to contribute 10 volunteer hours per student per semester. These hours support the smooth operation of CLA and help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all students.

Buy-Out Option

Parents may choose to opt out of the volunteer requirement by paying a $600 per student per semester opt-out fee. This option is available at the time of enrollment or as otherwise communicated by the CLA administration. All fees and requirements are subject to change.

Fulfillment & Missing Hours

Volunteer hours must be completed by the end of each semester. Any unfulfilled hours will result in parents being charged the pro-rated opt-out rate for the missing hours.

Available Volunteer Opportunities

The following shifts are regularly needed to support daily school operations. The number of volunteers required for each shift is noted.

  • Morning Drop-Off Shift: 0.5 hours (includes bathroom check) – 2 volunteers needed

  • Lunch Shift: 1.5 hours (includes bathroom check) – 4 volunteers needed

  • Afternoon Pick-Up Shift: 1 hour (includes pick-up duties and bathroom deep cleaning) – 2 volunteers needed

Additionally, substituting for a tutor who is absent counts toward volunteer hours at a rate of 1 hour per class covered for K-8 and the equivalent time of each HS class.

Other volunteer opportunities will be shared with the community as needs arise and the resulting volunteers hours will also be deducted from the required volunteer hours.

Volunteer schedules and sign-up details will be shared through the school’s communication platform. We greatly appreciate the time and dedication of our parent volunteers, as their support is vital to the success of our school community.

If you need to opt-out of volunteer hours you may do so for a small fee.

Drop-Off Policy

Drop-off is free to parents and available for students in Kindergarten through 12th grade. We encourage students to practice self-governance by staying motivated, listening attentively, respecting others, and following campus policies.

If a student struggles with self-governance, we will warmly invite parents to attend classes with their child to provide support until consistent improvement is shown. We trust in your dedication as a parent and value your partnership in supporting your child’s growth.
